Join hands to create a modern future for Malaysia's fishery
Warm greetings to everyone,
As Malaysia’s fisheries sector navigates a pivotal era, we stand at the intersection of challenge and opportunity. Together, we must reimagine this vital industry by harnessing innovation, collaboration, and sustainable practices to secure its future.
Malaysia’s waters are a treasure trove of marine resources, yet still reliance on imported seafood. Today, 70% of our seafood supply comes from capture fisheries, predominantly nearshore. Traditional nearshore fishing methods, while foundational, now strain under the weight of rising demand and dwindling global fish stocks. Aquaculture, contributing just 30% of production, holds untapped potential. Meanwhile, offshore fishing remains underdeveloped, leaving vast opportunities in deeper waters unexplored.
At Ausin Group, we envision a transformed fisheries sector from one where fragmented practice give way to a seamlessly integrated, technology-powered model. By unifying every stage of the value chain from catch/culture to consumer, we aim to build a resilient, globally competitive industry that balances economic growth with environmental stewardship.
Towards this vision, we will consolidate operations in management, training, processing, and sales. Here, economies of scale meet cutting-edge innovation, driving efficiency, quality, and sustainability across the board.
Langkawi will evolve into a beacon of smart aquaculture, where technology optimizes productivity, sustainability, and product quality. Automated systems and data-driven practices will redefine what’s possible in fish farming.
A state-of-the-art complex at Kuala Kedah will streamline nearshore operations, merging fishing, processing, and sales under one roof. This integration slashes costs, enhances traceability, and ensures fresher, higher-quality seafood for consumers.
Through land reclamation and advanced infrastructure, we will establish Malaysia’s first deep-sea fisheries hub at Kuala Kedah. Equipped with cold-chain logistics and modern processing facilities, this base will set new benchmarks for quality and sustainability in offshore fishing.
Collaborating with the government, we will replace aging wooden boats with durable, tech-enabled steel or fiberglass vessels, boosting safety and efficiency at sea.
By equipping local fishers with technology, training, and market access, we aim to integrate them into the modern supply chain, strengthening livelihoods and national food security.
Scaling aquaculture’s share from 30% to 40% will bridge supply gaps and align with Malaysia’s sustainability goals, ensuring a steady, eco-conscious seafood supply.
Launching Malaysia’s deep-sea fleet will diversify catches sustainably, targeting 30% of production from responsibly managed offshore operations.
Kedah’s geographic advantages are unmatched. Positioned at the gateway of the Strait of Malacca and the Indian Ocean, it is a natural hub for offshore ventures. Proximity to Thailand, a global fisheries leader, opens doors for regional collaboration. In addition, with the supports, encouragement and engagement of state government to promote both agriculture and aquaculture, we believed that Kedah can rise as a cornerstone of Southeast Asia’s blue economy as a nexus of progress and prosperity.
For too long, Kedah’s youth have sought opportunities elsewhere. We believe this region’s true potential lies in its people. Fisheries and agriculture are not relics of the past—they are dynamic, evolving industries where tradition meets innovation. We invite Kedah’s bright minds to join us in shaping a future where local talent drives regional growth and global impact.
The journey ahead demands collective action. We call on:
• Government bodies, investors, and institutions to support our key projects in Langkawi, Kuala Kedah, and deep-sea development to collectively drive the modernization of Malaysia’s fisheries sector.
• Communities and professionalsto stay, thrive, and contribute to Kedah’s transformation.
By uniting, we can position Malaysia as a global leader in sustainable seafood, a nation that not only feeds itself but also shares its bounty with the world.
The path from seafood importer to premium exporter is clear. Through innovation, collaboration, and unwavering commitment, Ausin Group is dedicated to crafting a fisheries sector that fuels economic growth, safeguards food security, and champions sustainability.
Let us move forward, not as isolated actors, but as partners in progress to build a legacy of prosperity for Malaysia’s fisheries and future generations.
With gratitude and resolve,Chairman
