The delegation from Kedah Agro Ausin Berhad (KAAB) and Lembaga Kemajuan Ikan Malaysia (LKIM) visited the Fujian Provincial Ocean and Fisheries Bureau in the afternoon of 14 April 2025. The visit facilitated an exchange of insights with key government officials and industry experts on policies, technologies, and trends shaping the future of the fisheries sector.

The visit was designed to facilitate a deeper understanding of China’s advanced fisheries systems and how technology is driving modern aquaculture. The delegation visited to Marine Fisheries Emergency Command Center, which plays a critical role in monitoring fishing vessels in real time. The room is equipped to receive distress signals from vessels facing emergencies, enabling nearby vessels to respond and assist as quickly as possible. It also features tracking capabilities that allow for the review of vessel's historical routes and activity. This experience provided valuable insight into how digital infrastructure can enhance maritime safety, coordination, and operational resilience—key considerations for the advancement of Malaysia’s fisheries sector.

The insights exchange continued with a roundtable discussion involving Malaysian delegates and Chinese experts, focusing on potential collaborations in smart aquaculture, infrastructure development, and marine technology transfer. The dialogue emphasized mutual opportunities in policy innovation, technical cooperation, and private sector investment.

The session concluded with the signing of several Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) between Malaysian and Chinese stakeholders. These MoUs are expected to pave the way for joint ventures, pilot projects, and research collaborations in areas such as deep-sea aquaculture, sustainable fisheries management, and modern cold chain systems.

The MoU signings were officially witnessed by the Chairman of LKIM, signifying the Malaysian government’s full support and commitment to forging international partnerships that can bring long-term benefits to the national fisheries sector.
